On Painkillers For Chronic Pain From Three Knee Replacements. Panic Attacks After Taking Prescribed Perocet. Normal?

Hi...I have chronic pain due to three knee replacements. I am only 39~I will probably be on pain pills the rest of my life. My doctor switched me to Perocet. I have been having panic attacks since taking them. Is the normal. I feel like I am going to die and cannot breath. Can the Percocet be the cause of this?Thank you.

Hi,

The perocet is a opioid containing drug and its capable of causing panic like feeling its not normal its one of the side effect and I recommend you to consult your physician and discuss the issue with as soon as possible.

Please stop taking perocet and if unable to contact your physician and feeling to much short of breath please call emergency services.
The other side effects perocet are as follow.
1) shallow breathing, slow heartbeat
2) feeling light-headed, fainting
3) confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior
4) seizure (convulsions)
5) problems with urination

Hope it helps
