Operated For Hernia. Feeling Lethargic And Depressed. Blood After Bowel Movement. Advice?
I was operated on for a hernia this past Monday laproscopicly and except for some abdominal pain when I roll over in bed or get in or out of a car I'm feeling ok. The past 2 or 3 days however I've felt lethargic and maybe even a little depressed. I'm 69 years old, still working (by choice as a flight attendant) and am taking company sick leave for 2 weeks. Tomorrow, Monday will end week one.
About an hour ago I had bright red blood when I wiped myself after a bowel movement. My stools have been dark brown all week and ere again tonight on the first wipe. It was the second wipe that had the bright red blood. Any ideas? By the way I just came in from mowing the lawn (about a 40 minute job) and felt no pain in my groin area
This is evident that there is a gastrointestinal bleed. The source of bleeding is both upper and lower GI tract. Due to presence of fresh blood in the wipes and dark coloured stools. This bleeding may be causing lethargy. Consult your surgeon at once and review yourself.
