Other Than Tetanus Toxoid What Else Should Be Given For A Patient Who Is Bitten By A Monkey ?
My mom is bitten by a monkey today. She has also got fractured her hand. The doctor administered only a tetanus toxoid. What more she needs please advise.

This injection should be enough for now. Hope the wound was washed well in saline in the hospital and antibiotic was applied. She will need oral or IV antibiotics as is decided by your Doctor. Keep the hand splinted an no motion of that hand. Keep it in rest. Get check X-ray to see if it is in place. It could take 6 weeks to heal depending on how she maintains it.

Yes All animal bites have the potential to cause serious reactions in the skin and underlying tissue .Of course there is even the danger of gas gangrene. Any of these problems could be serious or even life threatening and may need a physicians intervention.
