Outbreaks Of Genital Herpes. Will You Get Oral Herpes If You Go Down Without Having Blister ?
I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes from the guy that I was with for 4 yrs. It ruined the relationship due to him knowing he had it and never saying anything to me. I ve had one outbreak since January 1st of this year. I have a new man in my life whom I ve told that I have it and he s not one to wear condoms and likes to go down on his woman. My understanding from my doctor was that he could only get it if I had an outbreak with the blisters is this true or should I be put on meds? If he did go down on me would he get oral herpes if I don't have an outbreak?
Hello Thanks for writing to us. It is possible for the male partner to contract herpes from oral or penetrative sex even if you do not have active blisters. You cannot be on medications all your life. Even if you do not have an active outbreak, it is possible to transmit the virus, as you are a potential carrier. There is no replacement for safe sex practice ( condoms ) in this case. All the best.
