Over the course of the last year, I've been going through a fair bit of stress (divorce, challenging work environment) and have noticed a distinct change in my body odor...not been sweating so it's not sweat induced. It's not offensive, I don't believe, but is distinct and different from my normal body odor, which is generally free from this scent. I've had no meaningful change in my diet and am otherwise in excellent health (had a recent checkup to confirm). The odor is, as noted, not offensive (not like bad body odor) but is not my normal smell. I'm 55. I know that stress can cause odor and a recent blood test suggests hyperthyroidism. The scent comes and goes and, for me, is occasionally sweet (and when more intense, cloying). I have an appointment to see an endocrinologist in a week but want to see what you might provide as counsel.
