Pain And Fullness In The Ear. Mild Bleeding After Cleaning The Ear. Any Suggestions?

I have a problem with my left ear. I have a feeling of fulness in it, and when I apply antibiotic and corticosteroid ointment on the walls of ear canal, it is painful. My doctor gave me this ointment although she wasn't quite specific about what she saw inside other than iritated walls. Otherwise I feel no pain and I feel no improvement with this treatment. When I first noticed this discomfort, about three weeks ago, I used cotton sticks very carefully to clean my ears, which I do in the same way my entire life with no problems (37 years), but my cerumen was mixed with blood then. The bleeding did not repeat and I have no discharge from my ear, other than usual. Can you tell me what might be going on inside my ear canal?

I read your query regarding pain in ear of left side with itching. you got blood in wax which you have removed from your left ear. Your doctor on examination had given you ointment of antibiotic and steroids for local application in the ear canal but you cn't get any relief from this treatment.
As you are saying that your doctor has only found congested walls of ear canal, this indicates that you are suffering from wax with otitis externa of left ear therefore on cleaning it it hurts you and bleeding occured due to peeling off infected skin of the ear canal.
Here I would like to tell you that you should consult an ENT doctor for proper cleaning of your ear and to examine the ear drum and treat accordingly.
