I would come up with these possibilities for this acute pain on the right side of rib cage (under ) ,these includes. 1 Pneumonitis , as you are having pain on the right side under the rib cage with severe bout of cough , so may be due to consolidation of lung ( rt pneumonitis). Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest . 2 Second possibility may be liver disease , diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of liver . As you mentioned in your query that pain develops after certain food , so chance of liver disease is there. 3 Thickened pleura , diagnosis can be confirmed by mri .
