Pain In Hip, Stiffness, Backaches. History Of Taken Off From Celebrex For Possible Liver Problem. Prescribed Meloxicam. Safe Medication?

I was on Celebrex for many years but was taken off after several blood test in my later years showed a problem may be starting with my liver. Now Meloxicam is recommended for me for my hip pain and stiffness and back aches. I am now 73 and have been off Celebrex for over 10 years now and am hurting. Tylenol helps some, periodically but not enough. I am a golfer that believes golfer helps me with the back pain, but I cannot sit very long without a pain in my buttocks. Should I still consider Meloxicam?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Meloxicam is safer as compared to Celebrex but can cause liver or renal problem if taken on a long term basis. You need to have a regular monitoring by your physician to find out any adverse effects.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
