Pain In Knuckles, Sore, Intense Pain In Picking Things. What Could Be This?

I have developed pain in one of my knuckles (ring finger). The knuckle itself is a little sore but there are times that if move it or pick something up I get this intense, burning pain. I never I could be in such pain. Is this something I should be concerned with. I know I haven't banged it so I'm not sure where this came from
