hi, recently my father in law had an uneasy feeling and pain in left side of chest,so we took him to doctor.the doc immediately did an ecg and asked him to admit in hospital.terrorized my dad in law ran through several tests that showed lvh with grade 1 diastolic dysfunction.he was advised to take an angio ct for coronaries.but instead he consulted another doc who prescribed aspirin n atorvastatin and trimethazidine hcl tablets.and now v decided that we'll continue with medication for one month and then go for test. please tell me severity and extent of his disorder and also what precautions should be taken. is this condition curable,is it life threatning?
Thanks for the concerns. LVH increases the risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke; it is usually a marker of long-standing hypertension. It can be reversible to some extent with good blood pressure control, healthy diet and exercise; diastolic dysfunction refers to increased stiffness of the heart, again classically related to high blood pressure; it is graded from 1 to 4, 4 being the most severe so his is not that bad. I am glad that you found a provider taking care of those issues; take the medications as prescribed and follow recommendations.
Yours truly,
