I have pain on my lower left abdomen and have been going to the toilet to pass stools frequently. I do not have diarrhea though as the stools appear to be normal. The only thing is i am going to the toilet about 6 times a day and passing a small aount. i am currently taking movicol because i was suffering from constipation a few weeks ago. Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. You have not mentioned about your dietary habits. If you eat frequently from outside like any fast, fried food, you may have some kind of stomach infection one of the common being amebiasis. In that case I would advise you to go for a stool routine test for ova and cyst, and go for a course of anti amebic drug along with a probiotic which may relieve you of your symptoms.
Also take a lot of roughage and plenty of liquids routinely in your diet, and avoid taking the laxative drug as a routine. Regular intake of laxative will upset your routine bowel habit.
In case of persisting problem without any relief which may point to irritable bowel syndrome, I would suggest you to take appointment with a gastro enterologist for a possible endoscopic examination of your intestines for further management.
I hope this information will help you out in solving your problem. Thanks for using healthcaremagic forum for your health query. Good luck.
