Pain In Lower Left Side, Constipation, Under Stress. History Of Ulcerative Colitis. Should I Take MRI?

I have been experiencing pain in my lower left side It feels like gas since I've had this before, however, this time, it has lasted all day. Sometimes, if I am constipated, it will act up but I don't think that is the problem right now. I've had stomach problems in the past, i.e. ulcerative colitis but I haven't had any flare ups in several years. As of now, I do not have health coverage for doctors but I am covered under hospital care. I am 62 years old and have been in pretty good health. I do have osteoporosis but I don't think my stomach has anything to do with that. I am extremely active but I am also under lots of stress with babysitting for my grandchildren and working part time. If my pain still persists, should I get an MRI? Thank you for any advice.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

There is no mention about the specific area of pain in your description (lower left side of which area). However, I assume that it could be your adbomen.

As you are having a past history of Ulcerative colitis, I suspect that your present pain may be related to it. An Ultrasound scan of abdomen will detect most of the abdominal problems, if not an MRI scan may be indicated.

Consult your family physician for a detailed evaluation.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
