Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About an hour ago....I got a sharp, throbbing pain in the left side of my neck. It feels like a blood vessel is bursting.....very painful, but then it is quickly over. It is continuing to happen every few minutes...causing me to wrench and cringe during the quick burst of pain. Any ideas????? Reason to be concerned????
Most Probable Cause: 1) Strained Muscles of Neck 2) Inflammatory arthritis , Cervical Spondylosis
Friend there is nothing to be concerned if pain is acute onset , I suggest you to take rest and avoid strenuous excercises that helps to relax muscles and can make no more pain. Secondly NSAIDS and massage is found to be helpful in treating Left sided neck pain .
If symptoms worsens even after using medications , I would recommend to do EKG and Imaging studies to rule out underlying cause of disease.
Hope this information is useful, please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Regards Dr.Kingson John David
