Pain In Neck, Swollen, Tickling In Fingers. Working With Computers. Taking Light Medication. Suggestions?

Iam 58yo and have been healthy. I have now two weeks pain on my neck - lefthand side. It seems a bit swollen near the collarbone. Today I have tickeling in my fingers in left hand. Been to the doctor yesterday who gave me Voltaren pills and gel. The pills have helped but the gel did not. I have used last night and today cold paks, which releave the pain in my neck. I have worked in front of computers 25 years. Is this a pinched nerve??. The pain is not continious but comes from time to time and is burning, very painful, lasting a few seconds.

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that you are having symptoms due to cervical spondylosis. It can be related to working for long hours on computers with wrong posture.

You should follow some precautions like :-
1. Do not sit in front of computers for long durations at a stretch. Give breaks in between.
2. Never work on computer with your neck bending forwards.
3. Use a thin pillow while lying down.
4. Do not lift heavy weights.

You should get yourself clinically examined by a Neurophysician/Orthopedician.
Also get a MRI of your neck done.

Hot fomentation and application of pain relieving gel will be helpful.
You should take pain killer along with muscle relaxants(Thiocolchicoside 4 mg) for better recovery. You can discuss with your doctor for that.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
