Pain In The Collar Bone And Arm. X-ray And Blood Test Normal. Need Mammogram?
Six months ago I went to the ER bc I was havingsharp pains that started on my right collarbone and would shoot down my arm.and into my right breast.I was told it was my rotator cuff and that with rest it would go away but it hasn't.It would hurt off and on but about 3 Weeks ago.it started hurting and hadn't stopped.I have a knot now and it hurts nonstop.I have pain on my collarbone, under my arm and my right breast.I had an xray.and it came back fine so did my blood work.I'm now going to an orthopedic surgeon next week.My question is do you know what could be causing this and do I need to have a mammogram? I'm only 30 and have no history of breast cancer on my mothers side but I have no idea about my dads.I'm in a lot of pain and want answers. Thanks
Hello, Thanks for writing in. You question it very important for all women in your are group Mammography was done earlier using only using X rays. This is nowdays reserved for women over 40 years of age unless for highly suspected problems. With your age and problems you face, I woould like you to get ultrasound of both breasts and axillary region (underarms). This is known in some places as sono mammography and completely safe and accurate in picking breast disease. Hope this helps.
