Pain Inside Left Nostril After Doing Some Dental Work, Had Blocked Nerves With Injections Around Teeth. Is The Nerve Damaged?
Hello..had some dental work yesterday on both top and bottom. She blocked nerves with injections in each jaw hinge as well as around the teeth. Ever since It wore off I have strange intermittent pain inside left nostril and constant post nasal drip that will not go away. Is this just a nerve that has been harmed or should I see a doctor?
Hello Thank you for writing in healthcare magic. your dentist gave you nerve block to anesthetize so that you wont feel pain during treatment. Post operative pain and discomfort may persist , which can get minimize by antibiotics and analgesics. Ask your dentist to prescribe. For nasal drip i would advise you to check out with your dentist first to examine injection site tearing and then to your physician or ENT surgeon. If any query feel free to write us back. Take care.
hi... thanks for the query... symptoms you mentioned are minor and common complications of local anesthesia that occurs due to nerve damage.. but don't worry, they are transient.. nerve will repair and symptoms will subside eventually with time.. you can take pain killers for symptomatic relief... and B-complex (neurobion) to enhance nerve regeneration... hope it will help you... take care...
Pain remains after dental procedures for some times this can be reduced with the help of antibiotics and analgesics. There could be a chance of tearing of the oral mucosa at the time of giving the dental anesthetia. Please visit your concerned Dentist and get the checkup done. For post nasal drip visit an ENT Specialist and get the checkup done. Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
hello were your upper molars extracted during the dental visit.if yes then it can be due to perforation of oroantral fistula,it is a common complication while extracting upper first molar tooth in which the dentist accidentally perforates the maxillary sinus floor leading to leaking of oral fluids through nasal space. kindly visit a dentist to confirm this diagnosis and get it treated where he/she will put a flap covering the fistula. hope i have answered your query. get well soon
