Pain, Swelling, Prickly Feeling In Right Hand Between Thumb And Index. Joints Fine. Suggestions?

I have pain and swelling on my right hand in between my thumb and index finger... more specifically what some call the "webbing". This has been going on and off for some time now and pain increases as well as the frequency of pain and swelling with when I use my right hand in daily activities. There have been times while holding my head up with my right hand that I lose feeling/experience prickly sensation in my ring finger, pinky, and half my palm. Currently I find straightening out or opening of my entire hand not as easy as it used to be and a somewhat of a rubber-band type feeling. The joints feel fine but it's the meaty area so to speak that I'm concerned about.

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.
1. Pain and swelling between your thumb and index finger could be due to repetative strain on the radial nerve.
2. Loss of sensation and prickly sensation in your ring finger, pinky (littlke finger) and half of your palm (I understand the lateral half) could be due to stimulation of your ulnar nerve.
Please consult an orthopedic surgeon and get yourself examined.
He may ask you to get X ray of cervical spine if desired.
Hope this helps.
