hi
as per the information provided by you inability to open the the mouth and swollen gums are signs of inflammation which can be due to erupting wisdom tooth.
swelling in gums can also be some side effect of the herbal medication you just started.
the best way to make a correct diagnosis is to visit your dentist and let him examine your oral cavity for cause of inflammation.
dieting has nothing to do with the present symptoms .
take care

Hello
Welcome to HCM
I went through your history & it suggests that you are suffering from Pericoronitis i.e. inflammation of pericoronal tissue before eruption of third molar. It occurs due to food lodgement & bacterial accumulation in that area. Its Symptoms are:-
-pain
-swelling
-difficulty in mouth opening
-fever
-malaise
-regional lymphadenopathy
Get an IOPAR done & consult your dentist. If flap is interrupting in its path then go for flap removal i.e. operculumectomy. Otherwise if sufficient space is not available then go for extraction since it is vestigial & has no role in mastication.
For temporarily relief do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day.
Start with Tab Amclaid-625 twice a day along with Tab Zerodol -SP thrice a day for 5 days.In Case of gastric problem take rabeprazole-40mg once daily.
Your herbal pills won't be of much use.
Do betadine gargles twice a day.

Take Care

Hello & welcome,

Restricted mouth opening accompanied with the pain in gums indicates the presence of erupting third molar or wisdom tooth.

This is more likely to be seen if the wisdom tooth is partially erupted in oral cavity thereby creating the gap between the tooth surface & overlying mucosa.
When food debris gets accumulated within these gaps, the flap or overlying mucosal covering becomes infected.

If infection spreads in nearby space, then naturally trismus developes restricting the mouth opening less than normal.

First visit your dentist & get an x-ray done to diagnose the presence & position of any impacted wisdom tooth. Treatment will done as per the findings.

Use of antibiotics & anti-inflammatory drugs in conjunction with painkillers is vital in such case but they should be administered only if prescribed by your dentist.

Avoid hot fomentation or intake of hot drinks like tea & coffee as these may initiate swelling in the third molar region

There is no relation between reducing food intake or herbal pills & reduced mouth opening.

Take care.

hello and welcome,
you are suffering from inflammation of pericoronal flap covering wisdom tooth.this is known as pericoronitis.
the symptoms associated are-
difficulty in opening mouth
difficulty in swallowing and chewing food
ear and throat infection
mildly ill with fever malaise
lymphadenopathy
inflammed tonsils and uvula
visit your dentist and get examined clinically.get your teeth cleaned to relieve gingivitis.
take an x-ray to know the position of impacted tooth.
if normal eruption is possible, operculectomy can be done,ie,incision and removing the flap covering impacted tooth.
if tooth do not have adequate space for eruption, get it surgically extracted.
take complete antibiotic course.
