Painful, Heavy, Continued Periods. Is Voluntary Hysterectomy An Option?

I am 28 years old with no children. I have very painful, heavy, continual periods. My periods can last for four months with a day break. I have been on different birth controls and hormones, Nothing seems to be working. I want to have a voluntary hysterectomy. Are there any doctors that will do this? Tired of fighting with my doctor about what to do with MY body. I will be having my eggs frozen for a surrogate later on in life if that is something I choose to do.

Hi...you might have heard this advice frim various doctors regarding the hysterectomy. ...of course you have the right to get your uterus removed but as a doctor I would advise that you don't get it done at a young age....removing the uterus doesn't mean getting rid of your problem. ..it means getting rid of one and inviting others thst would also decrease the quality of life at such young age.....I dont know what hormone and pills you have taken but there are so msny treatment options for your problem that unless you explore all of them...nobody would advise hystrectomy for you. ...and surrogacy is not as convenient as it sounds. ..it has social medicolegal and other issues that need to be full y understood before you take the decision. ...still its your body and your decision. ..if you give written consent for every problem you encounter later on and take full responsibility for that....may be you can get your hystrectomy done

Hi,
The bleeding you have seems to be extreme, making you disturbed & depressed. I understand your concern.
I feel you have come to the decision of voluntory hysterectomy after preserving eggs for surrogation afterwords, out of frustration. Actually that is the last resort in patients like you. Let your doctor decide it for you.
Before that few things like Bleeding dis orders, fibroid uterus, cervical polyp, pap smear need to be excluded.
Similarly few options like Endometrial resection/ablation,baloon therapy can be applied with your doctor's advice Though they reduce chance of conception,a major procedure can be avoided.
Ovulation study for confirming ovulation is a required before preservation of eggs.
Consult an expert Gynecologist, get a complete evaluation of your condition & take decision with help of your doctor.
Wish you all the best.
Thanks.
