Welcome to HCM. THis is Dr Amit
Most uterine fibroids are harmless do not cause symptoms and shrink with
menopause. But some fibroids are painful, press on other internal organs, bleed and cause
anemia, or cause
pregnancy problems. There's no single best approach to uterine fibroid treatment — many treatment options exist
As you are having severe heavy bleeding you can consider shrinking the fibroid by
hormonal medications, removing the fibroid (myomectomy), or removing the entire uterus (
hysterectomy).
For all procedures, except hysterectomy tiny tumors (seedlings) that your doctor doesn't detect during surgery could eventually grow and cause symptoms that warrant treatment.
So i will advice you to choose abdominal hysterectomy as it remains the only proven permanent solution for uterine fibroids. But hysterectomy is major surgery. It ends your ability to bear children.
