Painful Left Knee Is Puffy And Tightens While Walking

My left knee is very painful. I have had both knees x rayed and the right one appears to have more wear and tear than the left but i feel no pain in this justs cracks when i get up. The left knee is puffy and a little egg swelling on the inside of the kneecap, it tightens up when i walk, painful to get out of a chair and hurts when i press the clutch pedal, this has been going on for 3 weeks and getting worse. I was prescribed painkillers at the docs but as i am on predaxa (blood thinner i cannot use the ibuprofen and when i even used the gell i had nose bleed . I am 65 and did not injure the knee in an accident. I am waiting to see a specialist but could be a year. Any advice please

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
It looks to me that you are having osteoarthritis of knee. When you are saying that right side wear is more but pain is more on left side, this is because left knee is having synovitis, this is a episodic disease in which knee get swollen and severe pain occurs. In between two episode of synovitis pain is not much. So at present my advic to you is take Etoricoxib tablet alsong with calcium and vitamin D3. Avoid sitting on floor, cross leg sitting and squatting. Try to loose some weight too. If these measures are not helpful for you then last option is total knee replacement.
