Painful Lump On The Ankle, Difficulty In Walking. What Is Wrong?

Hello, my name is Leanne, I have this problem with my ankle/heel, it has a lump on the Calcaneus and is painful on the bottom of my heel, sometimes I can walk the pain out but often it is there all the time, it hurts more when I sit for awhile then get up and walk, I'm really hoping you can help me with some ideas on what could be the problem, thank-you for your time.

Hello Leanne,
Thanks for writing in.
I understand you are having lump on opne of your heels. This is painful especially when you get up and walk after having rested awhile.
In some people, the calcaneum bone develops a spur on its bottom surface posteriorly. This is a very common condition and you need to see an orthopedic surgeon who may ask a X ray of the ankle in the lateral view confirms it.
However if its some sort of soft tissue problem then he will it will not be seen on X ray.
