The lump developed under the tongue may be due to-
Gingivitis due to poor oral hygiene.
Deep dental caries resulting in abscess formation.
Fractured tooth .
I would suggest you to get a deep scaling done.
Maintain good oral hygiene.
Pus if present within the lump has to be drained out.
Infected pulp if present has to be removed.
Take medicines as per prescription.
Take care.
Painful lump under the tongue can be either a gingival abscess due to accumulation of bacterial plague and calculus deep inside the gum pockets .
Or it can be a periodontal pocket arrising from the infected tooth .
Visit to the dentist get a checkup done .
Take an x-ray of the invoved tooth, if the tooth is infected go for Root Canal treatment of tooth and drainage of abscess .
Get complete mouth scaling and polishing , drainage of the abscess and root planing of the teeth.
Maintain a good oral hygiene .
Use antiseptic mouthwash gargles twice daily to prevent infection and promote healing .
Use saline water gargles 3-4 times daily to give a soothing effect.
The painful lump or swelling you can notice under your chin is nothing but the abscess cavity bulging extra orally and it drains the pus in the oral cavity.
painful lumps may arise from infected tooth or cysts or abscess arising from the jaw bone.
This type of periodontal abscess needs to be drained and compressed in position and then followed by a course of antibiotic and analgesic will subside the symptoms of pain and swelling.
once the abscess is drained the infected tooth can be treated by root canal procedure to devitalise it permanently and save the tooth or of the prognosis is poor the tooth can be extracted.
get an x ray done the affected area and approach a dentist for the treatment.
i hope this helps,
take care.
