Painful, Reddish Incision Site. Cough And Cold Causing Pressure. Had Laproscopic Surgery. Caused Internal Damage?
Hi, I had laproscopic surgery nearly a month ago, and just yesterday one of my incision sites started to hurt. The area around it is now reddish and it feels like it is torn in someway, but the skin is healed. I've had a bad cold and the coughing has put pressure on this area, could I have done something internally to it?

Every cough/sneeze causes abrupt, momentary and drastic increase in the pressure within the abdomen, which in turn, stretches the abdominal skin.
Incompletely healed/weak incision scars tend to gape due to this. A gaping scar with raw edges has lead to staph infection in the surrounding skin and may even be inside the abdominal cavity.
