Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Based on the description, the patient seems to have suffered a brain stroke. As the CT scan of the brain is normal, it rules out brain hemorrhage. The type of stroke is likely to be ischemic, due to lack of blood flow to brain. The exact diagnosis can be confirmed by doing an MRI scan of the brain.

The risk factors of stroke in this case seems to be hypertension (high blood pressure), and high cholesterol.

Treatment would consist of aspirin (blood thinners), statins (to lower cholesterol) and control of blood pressure.

In addition, physiotherapy and speech therapy would also be useful.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
Senior Consultant Neurologist)
