Paralyzed Hand Due To A Stroke. High BP. Treatment Options?

My name is shahnawaz, My father had a stroke due to high BP 3 years ago , and due to that stroke his left hand was 90 % paralyzed. with the help of medicines and exercise he recovered 20-30% ! but still 50-60% of his hand is paralyzed he cannot grab a bag , hold a cup not even close his hand completely! Please tell me if u can help

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability. Therefore, it is important to treat stroke in the early hours. During the first four and a half hours, if a patient with stroke reaches the hospital, thrombolytic (clot buster) therapy can be given, which significantly reduces the disability.

In your father's case, as three years have passed after the stroke, there is no medicine which can be given to improve the paralysis.

At this stage, physiotherapy is the best solution. With proper exercises and physiotherapy, he would recover.
