Peeling Skin After Putting Splint For Broken Finger, Elbows Itching

My son broke his finger we took him to the doctor had it xrayed and were given a splint and some tape. We also purchase some waterproof tape for the splint. A few days after my son lose layers of skin from his fingers and feet . He also has raw looking elbows and Knees. He is 11 says the elbows itch but seems normal in all other ways.

Hi....I am Dr Manoj...
The problem your son is facing is very common among the splint users....it is the contact dermatitis..it's because there is increased friction...the area becomes wet and raw...I recommend to keep the area as dry as possible...you apply a combination of mild topical steroid with antibiotic...as soon as the splint is off it ll go off too....don't worry...
