Pelvic Ultrasound Done. What Does Findings Suggest?

Hi,
My pelvic ultrasound found " there is a heterogeneous hypoechoic mass towards the uterine fundus measuring 3.8x 4.0 by 4.4 centimeters. The uterine fibroid is situated anterior to the endometrial canal. It slightly deforms the endometrium. The endometrium measures 0.9 cm in diameter. No abnormal hypervascularity seen of the endometrium. The right ovary measures 3.2 x 2.1 by 2.2 cm. Small follicles are seen. The left ovary measures 3.3 x 1.7 by 1.7 cm. Small follicles are seen. No ahnexal lesion is seen, No free pelvic fluid is demonstrated. . The fibroid is determined as prominent anterior fundal uterine fibroid. "

I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 months but it has not happen. Does the fibroid affect my chance of pregnancy? Do I need to remove the fibroid to increase the chance of pregnancy?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Fibroid uterus usually doesn't causes infertility. However there is some possibility.
So,You should consult your gynecologist.
You need proper clinical evaluation.
Treatment options are medical and surgical.
Medical treatment aims at decreasing the size of fibroid by medicines.
Myomectomy can be done as a surgical option.

Take Care

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I will explain your ultrasound findings in simple language.

1. there is a heterogeneous hypoechoic mass towards the uterine fundus measuring 3.8x 4.0 by 4.4 centimeters. The uterine fibroid is situated anterior to the endometrial canal. It slightly deforms the endometrium:

This states that there is a fibroid (non dangerous tumor) in your uterus in the fundal (upper) region. It measures around 4 cms in diameter.

2. The right ovary measures 3.2 x 2.1 by 2.2 cm. Small follicles are seen. The left ovary measures 3.3 x 1.7 by 1.7 cm. Small follicles are seen. No adnexal lesion is seen, No free pelvic fluid is demonstrated:

The ovaries are normal in size and appearance.

3.I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 months but it has not happen. Does the fibroid affect my chance of pregnancy? Do I need to remove the fibroid to increase the chance of pregnancy?

A couple needs to get medically evaluated if they don't conceive a child after a year of unprotected sex. SO you still have time.

Fibroid in your situation is the size of a tomato. It needs to be followed up after medication by your gynecologist. Surgery is not the first choice of treatment of fibroids in women who don't have children. Newer methods of fibroid ablation may help. In this the fibroid blood supply is cut off and the fibroid becomes smaller. This can be considered for you.

Hope this helps.
