Perimenapausal, Mild Pancreatitis, Obese, Excellent Triglycerides. Does Perimenapausal Related To This?
I am perimenapausal and in excellent health. I was just hospitalized for mild pancreatitis but I have none of the risk factors. I am obese but have excellent triglycerides, eat a healthy diet and drink wine moderately. No hard alcohol. The doctors want to wait and see if it happens again but I want to take a more proactive approach. Could my perimenapausal have anything to do with it?
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
I appreciate your concern regarding your illness. Perimenopausal status has nothing to do with pancreatitis.
In you one factor that is apparent is moderate amount of wine. Also see for gallstone on ultrasound abdomen as it is very common cause of recurrent pancreatitis. Obesity is another factor which may make the prognosis worse in pancreatitis so do regular exercise and dieting to reduce weight. Take less fat, small and frequent meals.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
