Persistent And Gradually Increasing Pain At The Back Of Tongue Extending To Ear, Prominent On Swallowing. Suggestions?

I have had a persistent, gradually increasing pain at the back of my tongue/ throat on the right side only - I can only feel it when I swallow or yawn. I have noticed the pain extending to (or coming from?) my right ear. And I ve found that if I press on an area of my palate just beyond my upper right wisdom tooth , I can feel the pain from the pressure. I know I need to go in and have it checked, but I am wondering what suggestions/concerns you might have based of this information.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Have you got your wisdom tooth erupted or is it still impacted?
The impacted wisdom tooth can cause ear and throat infection, difficulty in swallowing ,fever, headache, nausea, metallic taste in mouth.
The pain in palate may also be due to abscess developed from decayed teeth or periodontal infection associated.
I would advice you to get a thorough clinical as well as radiological evaluation by a dentist.
Based on the diagnosis, treatment can be planned.
If wisdom tooth is impacted,it has to be extracted or flap overlying tooth has to be removed.
If decayed tooth is present, root canal treatment and drainage of pus within the abscess have to be done.
Maintain oral hygiene well.
Take care.
