Persistent Pain In Right Leg After Injuring Hamstring Previously. No Help From Medicines. Suggestions?

I have persistent pain in right leg, I injured hamstring 5 years ago, had MRI
scan which shows degenerative disc in lower back, came off bike 4 weeks ago and landed on right side, x-rays show no damage, no external bruising, went internally and pain syptoms have been worse since this accident, pain killers do not relieve, pain appears not only to be in muscle but in bone as well, get hot shooting pains into toes, I swim and cycle, pains disappears two/three hours after getting up. sleep soundly in same position and am woken by pain every morning.
ibuprofen upsets stomach due to hiastus hernia, take 2 x 500mg paracemtol - not effective

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A persistent pain in hamstring after an injury seems to be due to torn muscle fibers in the area. Rest and icing along with use of an elastic bandage are needed for relief.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal
