Pityriasis Alba Spreading, Loss Of Pigment. Hydrocortisone Cream Not Helpful. Treatment?

My 3 year old daughter was told by the GP that she has pityriasis alba about 6 weeks ago. She was prescribed 0.1% hydrocortisone cream but having used this for some weeks the condition is not improving but has spread across one side of her face. The loss of pigment is so obvious now that I am very concerned. Do you know what can stop this spreading and cure it? Thanks, worried mum

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern . Pityriasis Alba is a skin condition of unknown cause. It usually settles down on its own in a month or a year.It does not require any treatment.

You can apply sunscreen on the affected area to prevent from irritation when exposed to sunlight.Mainstay treatment is to moisturise the affected part.

Bye
Take care
