Poke A Pin Deep Into The Skin. Chances Of Getting Any Disease?
Hi, I recently had too much to drink and somehow ended up getting poked in the arm by an old safety pin. The pin went quite far into my arm, breaking the skin barrier and drawing a small amount of blood before I quickly removed it. I realized the next day that it had actually gone into a vein. Is there any chance of getting a disease or anything similar?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. It is better to take a course of antibiotics to prevent any infection especially if the area appears red, swollen or painful. Otherwise it will not introduce ant diseases as such. If it is a rusted pin, it is also better to take tetanus toxoid (TT) vaccine. Hope this answered your query. Take care
