Popping Sensation In Knee While Exercising. History Of Having Patellar Realignment Of Left Knee. Normal?

My son just recently, 3 weeks ago, had a patellar realignment of left knee. He is noticing a "popping" sensation when he does an exercise where he brings his knee back towards his chest. Quad control is getting sl. better but is still not at full function. Is this normal or should he see his doctor again? Son went back to college in another state.

Hi, for any manipulation in the lower limb requires an immobilization for 8 weeks, of course the recent advances have minimised the duration, but strenuous exercises should be avoided on the knee and weight bearing on this side should be minimised.
If the pain is unbearable, it is always preferable to consult the surgeon, at least by phone. Thank you.
