Pregnancy And Sugar In Urine Occasionally

My question is regarding sugar in urine occasionally Im currently 22 weeks pregnant and have traces of sugar in urine only after a big meal or carbohydrates. Can this happen with pregnancy and not have gestational diabetes? In the morning and all throughout the day I won t show any sugar in my urine but I do notice after dinner I have a little. I m wondering if this is because it is a bigger meal, also where I eat carbohydrates. Can just being pregnant in general cause the urine to show sugars ?

During pregnancy, you can normally have some amount of sugars in urine (Renal glycosuria), without gestational diabetes. Very much possible. But i would suggest you to have a oral glucose tolerance test to rule out gestational diabetes.

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply. I will be going for the glucose tolerance test in two weeks. With my first pregnancy I occasionally showed sugar in my urine and passed the test. So I'm thinking it could be pregnancy related.

Is this because during pregnancy our kidneys are working harder?
