Pregnancy Test Positive. Had Taken Primolut-N. Will It Affect The Baby?

HI,

My sister's last LMP was 19th March,2013. Her GYN asked her to go for ultrasound on 12th April,2013. After ultrasound report, the GYN started to take Primolut-N tablet for 5 days. My sister started on the medicine course on 16th April,2013 which completed on 20th April,2013. Post tablet course, her periods did not start and her pregnancy test came out to be positive on 28th April,2013. Request you kindly guide us on what could be the possible effects of Primolut-N tablet on her early pregnancy. Waiting for your response eagerly. Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Primolut-N (Norethisteron) is a synthetic progesterone used to delay the menstrual cycle when pregnancy is not there. If pregnancy is there you should immediately stop the primolut-N and consult a gynecologist to see your baby is fine or not.
Generally primolut-n has no harmful effect on the baby but overdoses are harmful to the baby.It may help endometrial lining to accept fertilized egg to implant.
GOOD LUCK.
Take care
