Pregnancy Test Positive After Unprotected Sex After Successful Abortion. What Are The Chances Of Being Pregnant Again?

Hello I had an abortion 2 weeks ago went to follow up appt last week they said everything was fine and there was no baby there I was 7 weeks pregnant when I had it did the medical abortion then had unprotected sex a week after abortion just took a pregnancy test today and it showed up positive what are the chances of me being pregnant again?

Hi,
If the completion of the abortion was confirmed through a follow up sonogram, there is no need to worry about the chances of pregnancy. Another pregnancy cannot happen so soon after an abortion as it usually takes 2-3 weeks for natural ovulation to get restored. The reason for the positive pregnancy tests is the persistence of the hormone hCG for some time after an abortion or delivery. Please practice contraception to space another pregnancy until at least two months. Hope this helps.
