My wife has concieved & she is pregnant. Her Lmp was 16.03.2013.As per regular checkup by gynaec on dt.26.04.2013 she told to have Ultrasound by 14.05.13 but as per daignostic report, cardiac activity of foetus is not found hence recommended to again go for ultrssound post 7 days ..and again conducted today..but agsin no cardaic activity found...pls advice.
Absence of cardiac activity in the fetus/ products of conception is called blighted ovum. This is a condition in which the fetus is not viable and it most commonly occurs due to genetic abnormalities. The products of conception needs to be removed by medical termination of pregnancy. You need to consult your obstetrician for dilation and curettage of the non-viable products of conception. The histopathological examination and karyotying of the products of conception need to be done.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
