Pregnant. After US Suggested Ecosprin And Proanthocyanidin. Told That Problem In Fetal Lung Development. Guide?
Hi doc, i'm 31 weeks and 6 days pregnant. My lmp is 18th Jan 2013. I just had an ultrasound and the doctor suggested a dose of ecosprin-75(once a day) and L-arginine & proanthocyanidin granules-sachet 5g(twice a day) . AFI = 8.8 cms. She also told me there is some problem in foetal lung development and everything will be fine. if there is no improvement by next week she suggested to take injections.i'm worried now.could u plz guide me??

may be your baby's growth is not proper so they are prescribing you these medicine to compate the growth,this medicine is not for lung maturity,but if baby remain such with some colour doppler changes in blood flow in ultrasonography or liquor reduces much,then injection what your doctor will give to you will help in maturation of lung.and baby can be delivered.thanks

At 32 weeks, with borderline low fluid level, my only guess is that your doctor is worried about an increased risk for having to deliver your baby early. Perhaps given this concern, efforts to mature the baby's lungs early is the goal. Ecosporin is a drug in a class of NSAIDs and is typically not used during pregnancy. You need a second opinion and consult regarding whether you have a high risk situation and discussion medications that are actually of some benefit during pregnancy, not the ones recommended.
