Pregnant. Consumed Mucolite Tablets Instead Of Macalvit. Does The Medication Harm The Baby?

Hi dr,
Is it safe to have mucolite tablets during pregnancy?
I am 12 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy. I am 24 yrs old, 167cms and 71kgs. I consumed 5 mucolite tablets. During my 3rd day of consumption of this tablet my face started to get dry and at present my skin started to get peel off. Is it because of the consumption this tablets or something else? Just now came to know that instead of 'macalvit' the medical shop person gave 'mucolite'. I am concered about the baby. Please help.

Thanks for your query.
Normally, the peeling off is not caused by mucolite.
Mucolite is not safe to be consumed in pregnancy.
however, you have taken only 5 tablets, so do not worry.
There will be no side effects to you or to the baby.
Continue taking 5 mg folic acid daily throughout the pregnancy.
Start taking Macalvit as indicated.
Such a small dose will not cause any adverse effects.
