Pregnant. Have Itching. Done Lft. Is This Normal During Pregnancy? What Is The Risk To Baby And The Mother?

Hi, My wife is 22 week pregnant and recently she started to have itching. We did a LFT.SGOT - 81, SGPT - 121 and alkaline phosphatase - 207 were the levels identified in test. If you can help with the below query: Is this normal during pregnancy? What would have caused this level gone so high? What is the risk to baby and the mother? Is this curable? What should be the diet for mother during this time? Would really appreciate your help

Hi,
In pregnancy, the release of bile from gall bladder is decreased due to pregnancy hormones. The bile acids are formed in liver. liver being stressed,
abnormal liver function test is seen in pregnant ladies.
Still raised values are considered as alarming signs for mother as well as child. So to be under expert's care is the safest way.
Local applications to combat itch, medicines to decrease bile acids in system, vitamin supplements, some times cortisones are the medications . They are given according to the need. You have to consult a Gastroenterologist/Gynecologist . they will decide the treatment for you.
Food - A high protein, fat free, high vitamin diet ( Specially fat soluble vitamins in natural form)is recommended for such patients.
Thanks.
