Pregnant. Huge Incisions In The Stomach Due To Appendix Removal Surgery. Any Side Effects?

I just had my appendix removed but I am 26 weeks pregnant. What is the safest procedure to take when performing this operation. My surgeon gave me anesthesia, tried to do the procedure laparoscopically but was not successful and had to do it the other way. I now unfortunately have two huge incisions in my stomach. I was also wondering what are some side affects for myself and the baby I should be watching out for thanks, Nicole

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

First you have to take and continue the progesterone supplementation for few days to prevent premature uterine action.
Complete the antibiotic course and other medicines recommended by your doctor.
At the time of discharge go for ultrasound examination once.
If everything is normal no need to worry.
At the time of the delivery depending on the maternal and fetal conditions and depending on the presence of adhesions the mode of delivery can be planned.

Take care.
