Pregnant. Lower Back Pain, Leg Pain. Had Disc Slippage. Suggest?
Hi Doctor, I am 17 weeks pregnant. I am facing severe lower back pain and also sever leg pain starting from hip to fingers. I am not able to walk now, hence i am using a walker to walk. I cant stand also. I need the walker support to stand & walk. 3 years back, i had a disc slippage and went for a tracksion. After that i didnt have this issue. But now i am suffering a lot. Is there any treatment for this.
Hi,
It looks like your old backache has recurred due to the laxity of the ligaments that happens during pregnancy as well as the stretching effect of the enlarging abdomen on the back muscles. The symptoms relate to a nerve compression. You need to see an orthopedic for a proper diagnosis and management as if left uncorrected now, this is going to get worse later on in the pregnancy causing unnecessary trouble. You may need physiotherapy in as much as your pregnancy allows. Meanwhile, you may take pain killers and local applications after consulting your obstetrician. Take care.
