Pregnant. Persistent Pain In The Abdomen When Standing. Sonography Reports Normal, Blood Test Report Shows Occult Blood Present. Explain
Hello Doctor, My wife is into 18 weeks of pregnancy. She has been complaining of persistent pain in the abdomen for past 1 and half months. The pain subsides once she lies down. Her gynaec asked her to go for a sonography of the abdomen and Routine Urine test. The sonography reports came fine however her blood test report shows "Occult Blood Present (Traces). What do advise on this case?
Hello, If she is pregnant for the first time, the cause of the pain could be the stretching of the ligaments and the abdominal muscles having a pulling effect. Nevertheless, uterine irritability should be ruled out. Presence of occult blood in urine may need a consultation with a urologist to rule out any renal cause. Please have regular follow up, ask her to avoid strenuous activity and take ample rest especially in the left lateral position. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
