Pregnant, Diabetic, Baby Is In 25th Percentile. What Does It Mean?
I am 28 weeks and been told baby is in 25th percentile (FL: 49, HC: 267, AC: 230 mm) - I am type 1 diabetic, but have very tight control within normal ranges. My question is: if a baby is in 25th percentile of growth at 28 weeks can this change as the pregnancy progresses and as I move into the growth spurt phase OR will the baby most likely stay in the 25th percentile from now on? Also what does all this mean? I know its within normal ranges still but will baby likely be on short/thin side??
Hello madam, well since you are type 1 diabetic and since scan is showing 25th percentile, it says there are more chances of growth restriction of the baby....one of the complication of pre gestational or chronic diabetes is intra uterine growth restriction..I would suggest you to have a follow up with growth scans more frequently probably every 4 weeks, you may also require a doppler study during your scans and should have daily fetal movement count..Make sure your sugar levels are under control and visit your doctor every 2 weeks..hope i was helpful to you...
Hi, Thank you for choosing Healthcaremagic. Close monitoring of foetus will rule out if the baby is going for macrosomia or not. Get HBa1c level checked, get strict blood sugar control. Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!
