Pregnant Done Urine Test. Found Many Epithelial Cells. Meaning Of Contamination With Vaginal Secretion?

Hi Doctor, I m pregnant week 16 . I had my urine test and it says: Leucocyte esterase Present Microscopic Examination: WBCs / HPF 10 - 12 Epithelial Cells / HPF Many Comments: *Many Epithelial Cells may suggest the possibility of contamination with vaginal secretion What does this mean? I m worried. Thanks,

Hello,
There is nothing to be worried about. Probably the sample you gave for testing contained white discharge as well. You should repeat the test by maintaining precautions,i.e., you should clean the genital region properly before you give a sample and also collect a mid-stream sample to avoid any contamination. If the report still shows excess WBCs and epithelial cells you should see your doctor for further advice. Take care.
