hello and welcome to HCM forum,
I would like to inform you that as you are in the second trimester of pregnancy, therefore any dental procedure during this stage is usually avoided until there is an emergency.
Kindly see you dentist and do not worry, the tooth infection will not affect the fetus in any way, but do not delay the dental appointment.
You can take antibiotic and a painkiller to relief pain, they have to be prescribed by either your dentist or your gynaecologist.
Do not worry you will be fine, But avoid application of hot compresses.
You can perform warm saline rinses(3-4 times/day),
I hope i answered your query,
i wish you good health,
take care.

Hi Berindene,
Thanks for writing to us.
Since you are in 3rd trimester of pregnancy, extraction as well as complicated dental treatments are contra-indicated at this time.
So ,I would advice you to get the treatments after delivering baby.
At this point of time, you can get temporary filling or pulp capping done after excavating soft caries.
This will relieve pain to an extent.
Further treatment procedures has to be carried out after delivery.
Meanwhile, brush and floss your teeth since chance of developing ginigivitis is high at this stage of pregnancy.
Take complete course of medicines prescribed by your dentist.
Use Listerine mouthrinses to gargle.
Take care.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

I understand that you are in your third trimester of pregnancy.Dental work if done during pregnancy, the second trimester is ideal. Once third trimester is reached, it may be very difficult to lie on your back for an extended period of time.
The safest course of action is to postpone all dental work until after the birth of the baby. In emergencies, root canal or extraction may be done under supervision of the doctor. The anesthetic agent must be minimal. If you are having lot of pain you can take a consent from your gynecologist and get the dental treatment done .

Take Care

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

You are running in your third trimester of your pregnanacy where is it is not advisable at all to go for dental procedures as third trimester is considered to be unsafe and any dental procedures may provoke sudden labours .

Second trimester is considered to be the safest , but now it would advice you to postpone the treatment till you deliver .

Meantime for pain relief you can start with symptomatic treatment , antiobiotics and analgesics course by opinion of your gynecologist.

antibiotic coverage will prevent infection so do not worry .

i hope this helps ,

take care.
