Pregnant, Lack Of Sleep, Shivering On Bed. Prescribed Alprax. Safe?
Hello,
My spouse is approximately 7 months pregnant as of now and from last couple of days she is complaining lack of sleep and I saw her shivering from few seconds while laying on bed. She consulted her gynecologist and she had advised her to take Alprax 0.5 tablet for 3 days (1 tablet at night). Is this safe and what could be t he root cause behind less sleep and shivering?
Alprax is safe during pregnancy but it should not be taken for long term. If alprax is continued for long duration it can cause harmful effects on child after birth. Also mother can become dependent on sedatives.
Get blood checked for low hemoglobin, thyroid profile and calcium. Anxiety can be a reason for her restlessness. Restlessness is common in third trimester of pregnancy.
Hence you need not to worry for it.
Hope this helps you. Thank you.
