Pregnant, Lost Weight Due To Diarrhea, Vomiting. Stopped Eating Gluten, Dairy. What To Do?
I have had diarrhea and vomiting for about 4 month's and have lost about 20 pounds and am 2 mo pregnant and nothing helps. I have stopped eating gluten and dairy which helps sometimes but then it starts again . I have gone to the hospt. And they said they found nothing wrong. I don't know what pull be wrong with me. Could you give me some guidance on what to do.
Hi, Thanks for consulting us. I don't think gluten or dairy allergy can start in a pregnant patient, who is not allergic to them prior to pregnancy. This will only aggravate your weight loss, which is not good during pregnancy. I suggest you should have a stool DR (detailed report) & a stool culture to rule out any infection. In addition some pregnant patients cannot tolerate certain Iron preparations ( which are commonly given to pregnant patients). Switching to some other brand may help. Please discuss this with your treating doctor. Wish you good health. Take care.
