Pregnant, Spotting, Heaviness In Lower Stomach, Pain Around Wrist. Underlying Cause

hi. My aunt is pregnant and has been spotting for three days now. She's also feeling a heaviness in her lower tummy and having pain around her waist and feet. she went to the doctor and a urine test was done which proved she's still pregnant. however, she's bleeding more heavily now and it's dark and smelly. can you say what may be causing it?

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
These symptoms may indicate Threatened miscarriage, local pathology or may be infection. Best way to sort this out is to have a pelvic speculum examination & ultrasound.
If the pregnancy is viable & uterine opening is still closed, rest & progesterone supplements are the usual treatment options. This will be decided by her Obstetrician once her ultrasound report is ready.
All the best.
